LOU GRAMM, singer in the classic Foreigner line-up, has shared some sad news about the band’s founder Mick Jones.

Jones, 81, was unable to attend Foreigner’s recent Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction due to poor health – he had previous revealed an Alzheimer’s diagnosis – but few details were in the public domain.

However, Gramm has told Scott Lipps of Spin magazine, when asked about his relationship with Jones, “it’s pretty good. He’s in end stages of Alzheimer’s. So our conversations are … I can’t tell how he is. He’s distant.”

In another interviews, with the News-Press of Florida, Gramm said: “The last time I talked to him, I told him that I would go out with the band for the 50th anniversary.

“And that made him really happy. I think it’s an honour to go out anyway. So I couldn’t be happier. I’m doing it in the name of the band and for Mick… I think it’s the right thing to do, and I like singing those songs. And this version of Foreigner is very good.”

Jones revealed his diagnosis in a 2024 statement to Billboard.

“I want everyone to know that I am doing alright,” Jones wrote.

“However, I’ve always liked to be at my best when performing onstage, and sadly, at present, I find that a bit difficult.

“I am still very much involved in the background with Foreigner and remain a presence. Parkinson’s is a daily struggle; the important thing is to persevere and remind myself of the wonderful career I’ve had in music.”
