THOSE Warnnambool warriors Airbourne have performed the epic “Alive After Death (Last Plane Out)” 29 times on tour in Europe – and now it’s available to everyone.

The release of the call-to-arms song coincides with the news that the band’s sixth album will be eponymous – ie: it will be called Airbourne – and drop on August 26 via Spinefarm.

“Alive After Death” appears to have been inspired by the recent loss of rock legends such as Ozzy Osbourne, with lines such as “you give me life, beyond the grave” and “you keep me alive after death”.

Frontman Joel O’Keeffe – who attended Black Sabbath’s Back To The Beginning show last July – reminds us the song was written before then.

“A fan of Motörhead brings Lemmy back to life by literally listening to his music and remembering who he was,” he is quoted as saying in a band media release.

“When we sing their songs, we give them heat and we put life back into them. We always sayLemmy’s not dead — he lives forever.”

Airbourne was produced byBrian Howes and engineered by Mike Fraser.
