KISS have released the official trailer for their new documentary film End of the Road, offering fans a behind-the-scenes look at the band’s lengthy farewell tour. The tour, which began in January 2019 and concluded with a final performance at Madison Square Garden in New York on December 2, 2023, marked the end of five decades of live shows for the rock group.
The trailer showcases the band’s signature stage theatrics alongside candid moments from the road. It includes comments from guitarist and vocalist Paul Stanley, who states that rock and roll remains in his blood and that he was keen to return to the stage. The footage also highlights some of the challenges faced during the tour, such as an incident in Brazil where a dehydrated Gene Simmons performed while seated.
OUR REVIEW OF KISS’ LAST SHOW AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN
In one notable sequence, Simmons, still in full makeup and costume, reflects on the emotional weight of the tour’s conclusion. He observes that the full impact is unlikely to register until it arrives, comparing the experience to the knowledge that parents will one day die and the sudden force of that reality when it occurs.
Directed by DJ Viola, the documentary aims to capture the camaraderie, technical difficulties, health issues and triumphant performances that defined the End of the Road World Tour. The film presents an all-access perspective on the final chapter of the band’s traditional touring era, spanning approximately 250 shows across several years.
Kiss: End of the Road is scheduled to premiere on November 19 via a special livestream on the band’s official website, with tickets available from US$14.99 and a subsequent seven-day viewing window. Further distribution details on additional platforms are expected to be announced in the coming months.
