BRITISH rock singer Kim Jennett has added fuel to the fire of controversy surrounding South American metal band Dogma by documenting her own experience with the group’s management.

In a lengthy social media post on Friday, Jennett revealed the sketchy deals she was offered to become a member of Dogma.

These included agreeing to remain completely anonymous while part of the band and allowing the group’s management to retain all rights to the individual’s likeness and voice “in perpetuity”, extremely low pay with no royalties or residuals and giving “the Company” the right to replace her at any time for any reason.

Jennett claims further that after months of negotiation with the band’s management via her lawyer, a clause she pressed to have added to protect her against exploitation was removed.

“I urged them to add a section added about basic human rights which they immediately took back out. Protecting myself against things like sexual abuse and exploitation, allowing me rights to things such as health safety and the right to terminate the contract if these things are breached.”

Jennett’s allegations come as three members of Dogma, who are booked to tour Australia this month, departed in late October. Singer Grace Jane Pasturini and guitarists Amber Maldonado and Patri Grief all walked, citing the same concerns regarding exploitation from the group’s management.

Dogma has now cycled through 11 members in its brief career, including four guitarists, two singers, three drummers, and two bass players.

“People might not realise it’s not just about the awful pay,” Jennett wrote. “It’s about control. Legally bound to hide behind characters and keep mouths shut. Replaceable and exploited, all disguised behind a mask of “feminism”.”
