SKID Row has announced Broadway vocalist Justin Sargent as their new lead singer after more than two years without a permanent frontman and an extensive global search.
“I’ve been singing Skid Row songs for years but never imagined I’d actually be joining the band!” Sargent said.
“It’s an incredible honour to be part of something with such a legendary history,” he added, in reference to the band’s 40th anniversary.
Bassist Rachel Bolan was quoted in a media release: “Honestly, for me, it felt like he had been here from the beginning as soon as he walked in the room.”
“He was one of us. A lifer. Then he sang with so much power and conviction, it blew me away.”
Guitarist Dave “Snake” Sabo said: “I think that the moment Justin walked in the door we all kind of knew he was the guy.
“Everything about him; his voice, his attitude, his demeanor, it all just fit.”
Sargent, who starred as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark and Drew in Rock Of Ages, first caught the band’s attention last year before months of rehearsals confirmed the fit.
The group’s first recording with him, a cover of The Who’s “Won’t Get Fooled Again” produced by Nick Raskulinecz, was also released.
“I can’t wait to get out there, connect with the fans, and give them everything I’ve got,” Sargent concluded.
