MOTLEY Crue bassist Nikki Sixx has revealed attempts to reunite estranged bands for their upcoming North American tour.

The Crue are launching their Return Of The Carnival Of Sins tour in July with Tesla and Extreme in support but Sixx told Minnesota radio station 93X other acts were sounded out on the proviso that former members return.

“It’s who’s available, which is not easy,” Sixx said.

“And who’s still around, which is really not easy. There’s a few bands that we actually talked to about getting back together to do this tour with us, and there’s a couple of bands I just couldn’t get ’em to understand that it would be better for the fans than their egos. And so we try.”

It would surprise if Skid Row, who have been at odds with singer Sebastian Bach since his departure in 1996, was not one of the acts in question. The Skids still have not replaced their most recent vocalist, Erik Gronwall.

Ratt is another band that is inactive because of internal dynamics, with singer Stephen Pearcy and guitarist Warren DeMartini touring together recently while bassist Juan Croucier and drummer Bobby Blotzer sat on the sidelines.

Bret Michaels has also shown a reluctance to participate in a Poison tour next year, apparently preferring to instead stay with his solo band.

Sixx continues: “Tesla and Extreme both were available, and we couldn’t believe it. We were so happy because that’s just — from the opening chords of Extreme to the last chords of Mötley Crüe, it’s really good songwriting, and I just love good songs. Whether it’s done Metallica style, Rammstein style, Norah Jones style — I don’t care — Al Green style, Mötley Crüe style, a great song is a great song. And it’s just gonna be a night of just singing everything.”
