VETERAN drummer Chris Slade clarified an earlier post by insisting he has no problem with AC/DC’s decision to overlook him for next month’s Power Trip festival in California.

As previously reported here at HM, 55-year-old American Matt Laug has got the nod from Angus Young with Phil Rudd apparently unable to enter the United States due to his criminal record in New Zealand.

Some fans questioned why 76-year-old Slade – who could be termed Rudd’s incumbent stand-in – or 60-year-old Simon Wright was not tapped for the role.

And some saw this post on Facebook as a thinly-veiled shot at Angus, 68: “I know Matt as a very nice guy from my days of living in California.

“He is a very capable, teetotal drummer and will put the drums exactly where Angus wants them……

“At the back of the stage. I wish him the best of luck!”
He later added: “An update to my last post and in answer to some people who seem to have misunderstood and made comments which have inferred the contrary.
“I am not bitter or ‘whining’ and neither did I expect a call from ACDC.
“I merely wanted to say that I know Matt well and he will do an admirable job, because I knew a lot of you would ask me!!
“Apologies for my stupid sense of humour, which some of you didn’t get ….. My position in any band in 60 years has always been sitting down at the back of the stage.”
