SUNK Loto have been back with us since 2022 but you’ve got to wind back the years a lot further to find them appearing in their own music videos.

In fact, the last time the Oz metallers from the Goldy showed their melons on film was in 2003. That all changed a day or so back when they dropped the vid for “Dead Shadows”.

The song is the harbinger of … well, a tour and perhaps more new music. At least three more songs, anyway. For an outfit that released two albums before disbanding in 2007, returned in 2022 and put out one record the following year, it’s fair to say these fellows can’t be rushed.

Co-founder Luke McDonald is no longer in Sunk Loto, whose line-up has evolved to Jason Brown, Dane Brown, Sean Van Gennip and Rohan Stevenson.

In one of those group statements that has no equivalent in the real world, Sunk Loto said: “Following the Between Birth and Death 20-year anniversary tour in late 2023, we got back together early in 2024 with a handful of ideas that quickly turned into four new tracks, including ‘Dead Shadows‘.

“We headed into the studio with Forrester Savell to bring them to life soon after. ‘Dead Shadows’ felt like the right first single after a few years away. It sits right in that space between where we’ve come from and where we’re heading, and it really lets Jas’ vocals shine.

“We’re looking forward to sharing some new music after 30 years as a band.”
