AFTER what in retrospect was a legally required apology, Perry Farrell and Jane’s Addiction have reached a settlement and officially called it quits.
Dave Navarro, Eric Avery and Stephen Perkins filed at US$10 million lawsuit against singer Farrell after he punched guitarist Farrell during a show in Boston during September.
The band members alleged assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, breach of fiduciary duty and breach of contract. Farrell counter-sued, denying all allegations.
The suits were dismissed by the Super Court of California just before Christmas.
To go with the previous apology issued by the band, Farrell said: “I’d like to address what happened on stage last year. I’ve reflected on it and know I didn’t handle myself the way I should have. I apologise to our patrons and my bandmates for losing my temper and for disrupting the show.
“Jane’s Addiction has been at the center of my life for decades. The band, the songs, the patrons and the impact that we’ve had on music and culture mean more to me than any words I could ever possibly write down.
