ROCK legend Glenn Hughes is recovering from 10 hours of open heart surgery.
The former Deep Purple and Black Sabbath bassist and vocalist shared an update on social media after an eight-day stay at UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center in Westwood, Los Angeles.
“Now Home after an 8 day stay, and a 10 hour open heart surgery operation, called aortic valve replacement, exactly the same procedure I had done in 2013,” Hughes wrote.
He praised his surgeon, saying: “My doctor, Dr Richard Shemin, head, cardiac, and professor of UCLA, really took care of me with his remarkable staff.”
Hughes, 75, added: “Each day as I move forward, I am getting my energy back.”
“There is only love in my life. There are no mistakes,” he continued.
The procedure follows his announcement in August that he was retiring from touring and live performances on medical advice.
“This past year, I’ve had some health issues,” Hughes said at the time. “The results from numerous MRIs, CT scans, and an echocardiogram have alerted my medical team, that I need another open-heart surgery.”
“I really have no option and no choice as health is my number one priority,” he explained then.
