SAXON‘s newly announced 25th studio album Gods Of Thunder is almost five months away – but these days that’s not too early to release the first single.
And that’s exactly what Biff Byford’s men have done, with the title track for an album due out on January 22 via Silver Lining released on Wednesday along with the album details.
In a statement, Byford said: “‘Gods Of Thunder’ is a mighty tale of Celtic mythology, packed with the spirit and power of true heavy metal. Turn it up and bang your head!
“We had great fun making this album. This is gonna be one to beat!”
The album was produced by Byford, 75, and mixed by Andy Sneap, a current member of Judas Priest as well as a celebrated producer. Byford’s interest in history is front and centre, with one song concerning itself with the execution of Anne Boleyn and the fall of the Alamo.
The current line-up of Saxon is Byford, Nigel Glocker on drums, guitarists Doug Scarratt and Brian Tatler and Nibbs Carter on bass.
The entire track listing has not been revealed but the following songs are confirmed:
