PHIL Anselmo on vocals, Kirk Hammett on guitar, Billy Sheehan on bass and Mikkey Dee on drums.
That’s the stratospheric lineup on the new version of Accept’s “Fast As A Shark” that was released in the last 48 hours.
As we previously reported, the German stars are putting out an all-star tribute album on April 4 and they’ve managed to get some of the biggest names in rock and metal.
“Fast As A Shark” was released in 1982, off the Restless And Wild album, and is regarded as one of a handful of songs that set the template for what would become thrash metal.
Current Accept members Wolf Hoffmann and Mark Tornillo also appear on this new version from the upcoming Teutonic Titans 1976 to 2026.
Guitaris Hoffmann said in a media release: “This song was so much fun! We even re-recorded the intro in a Bavarian oompah style…
“A friend of mine lives in Bavaria and he was in contact with one of those traditional Bavarian woodwind outfits, and they recorded the traditional German folk song ‘Ein Heller und ein Batzen’ for us, which was fantastic.
“We were lucky to get Phil Anselmo on vocals, Billy Sheehan on bass and of course Kirk Hammett on guitar – which is amazing – and Mikkey Dee on drums.
“So that’s a pretty nice supergroup, isn’t it?”
In the same release, Hammett said: “A real honour to pay back the great inspiration Accept had for me!”
