US PUNKERS Rise Against are headlining a new heavy music festival on the NSW Central Coast.
The Entertainment Ground in Gosford will play host to Meltdown on Saturday, November 28. Also on the bill are The Living End, Dropkick Murphys, Jebediah, Redhook and Through Being Cool.
Rise Against and Dropkick Murphys are touring together, with Meltdown being one of five dates. See the others at the bottom this story.
The strapline calls it: “Australia’s newest high-voltage rock and metal event for true heavy music fans” and the location evokes memories of one of Australia’s most fabled festivals, Narara.
That only ran for two years – 1983 and 1984 – but covered itself in glory with acts such as Simple Minds, Def Leppard, INXS, Talking Heads, Annie Lenox and Eurythmics, The Angels, Cold Chisel and The Choirboys.
The Angels recorded a live video in ’83 which captured them in all their rip roaring glory.
