Frenzal Rhomb celebrate album anniversary – the 23rd anniversary

By May 9, 2026No Comments

IN THIS world of tenuous historical links being leveraged to promote anything, it’s hard to come up with something unique. But Aussie punksters Frenzal Rhomb have done it.

The four-piece are embarking on an extensive tour to celebrate the anniversary of their album San Souci. Which anniversary? Why, the 23rd of course!

“We just missed the 20th and the world may not make it until the 25th,” said a media release from the band, “so this year we’re celebrating the 23rd anniversary of Sans Souci!

Yes, that’s the album the featured the song “Russell Crowe’s Band” along with other less controversial compositions like “Bucket Bong”.
The upcoming tour is indeed extensive, running from August to November as it winds its way throughout the country from Adelaide to Forth, Tasmania – and certainly not in a direct line.

Bands making group statements in press releases is always weird – you can kind of imagine them all saying the same thing at once like something by Orwell – but here goes:< “Here at Frenzal Rhomb, the number 23 has always been important to us. 23 pairs of human chromosomes, William Burroughs’ 23 enigma, Psalm 23 in the bible, ‘the Lord is my shepherd’; we’ve always been big with shepherds.

“Actually, that’s all nonsense.

“Look, we may not make it through the whole album, and we probably won’t play it in order. So, don’t go getting all weird and complain like that one person did on the Camel tour. We’ll give it all a red hot go, though.”
