IT’S not every day that those Swedish legends Europe put out a new song and announce an album is on the way.
Today is just such a day. Joey Tempest and the boys announcing Come This Madness will be released on September 25 and unleashing “One On One” on streaming services.
And the video features Swedish-American actor Peter Stormare, who was in Fargo, The Big Lebowski, Minority Report and Armageddon. He is the only person in the video.
“‘One On One’ is definitely one of my favourite tracks from the album,” frontman Tempest says in the media release.
“The power and feel is fresh but some of the melodies bring me back to where it all began. Lyrically, it’s perhaps not filled with as much escapism as early Europe.
“These lyrics automatically ended up being more of a reflection of the times we live in today. Ever since ‘One On One’ was just a demo, we’ve stayed with it … never gave up on it and elevated it to a place where it belongs: a high-flying, classic hard rock track.”
The album – Europe’s 12th – was recorded at RMV Studios in Stockholm and features guest appearances from Tobias Forge (Ghost) and Michael Åkerfeldt (Opeth). It was produced by Tom Dalgety and mixed by Mike Fraser.
