JON Bon Jovi has assured guitarist Phil X he’ll still be in the band if Richie Sambora returns.
Phil X revealed the conversation in an interview on Sirius XM in which he was asked about the constant speculation that Bon Jovi’s original guitarist will at some stage rejoin the band,
The Canadian axeman has now been in Bon Jovi for 13 years, with Sambora having left in 2013.
“Even Jon has said ‘just so you know, I know it’s going around that Richie’s coming back. He’s not at this time but if he ever did, you’d be on the other side of the stage’,” the 59-year-old Canadian told the Faction Talk station.
“And I thought well OK, that’s cool. I still have a job.
“My whole mentality, even from my first chance to be on that stage is it’s one of the best tours to be on so I don’t think it’d be going anywhere.
“They’re super successful.
“I just roll with it. It’s pretty exciting. When we played together (with Sambora) at the Rock Hall Of Fame, it was pretty awesome.
“It was a great feeling.”
In 2024, Phil X revealed Sambora once “whispered something not really nice into my ear”.
Bon Jovi are playing a handful of dates in New York, Ireland and the United Kingdom this year, starting on July 7.
