SWEDEN’s Ghost have banned mobile phones from their upcoming world tour.
Repeating a restriction imposed for their recorded-for-film shows in Los Angeles during September, customers were told at the point of ticket sale that their mobiles would be sealed in magnetic pouches as they entered the building.
They pouches are opened electronically at the end of the show.
“This show will be a phone-free experience,” says a statement on the ticketing site. “Phones will be secured in Yondr pouches. Guests maintain possession of their phones at all times.”
In a separate statement the band said: ‘The Ghost live ritual experience has seen audiences all over the world turning off their phones and living in the moment – completely spellbound and in the thrall of Ghost.’
According to currently-available dates, the tour kicks off on April 15 in Manchester and concludes on September 24 in Mexico City.
In reference to the LA shows, Tobius Forge told Rock Sound: “I have never seen a crowd interact the way that they did since I was in a club band.
“They were the best shows I’ve ever done with Ghost, just because I didn’t have to see those f—ing mobile phones.”
