KISS fans have reacted with outrage to former drummer Peter Criss’ new album being listed for US$1000 to download, while the eccentric former guitarist Vinnie Vincent wants US$225 to US$300 for physical copies of his new single.

But at least one of them is not trying to rip fans off.

‘Catman’ Criss is offering his self titled album, released last week to coincide with his 80th birthday, for USD33 and CDs for 15. It appears the one-grand pricetag on Bandcamp is there solely to express his disapproval of downloads.

The album is also not available on Spotify or Apple Music – but if you buy a physical copy, you receive a download code.

“Digital purchases are discouraged,” it says on Criss’ Bandcamp profile. “That’s why the high price.”

Vincent, on the other hand, has been typically eccentric and guilty of what some would call naked profiteering.

The ‘Ankh Warrior’ has a new single on the way called “Ride The Serpent” which will be only available physically. Unless he sells 1000 of them – 500 within the US and 500 outside – he will not release it at all and promises fans a refund.

One copy of the single will set you back US$200 with US$25 for postage – or US$100 you live overseas. All up, that’s A$450 for one song. Vincent said they would all be mailed at once to avoid pirating.

Vincent says this is the first single from his new album Judgement Day Guitarmageddon. The song features original Vinnie Vincent Invasion singer Robert Fleischman om vocals and Keary Jordan on drums.
