THE somewhat unexpected collaboration between KISS’s Tommy Thayer and Dan Reed of Dan Reed Network fame has borne its first fruit.
The Frontiers Records project is called Shogun Mojo and the first song is entitled “Under The Gun” (not to be confused with the KISS song of the same name).
It’s fair to say the funk rock direction has more in common with Reed’s back catalogue than that of Thayer while the futuristic music video makes use of high end AI technology via film makers Mark Bliss and Patrik Velek.
Reed, 63, said in a statement: “In the first single ‘Under The Gun’… Tommy kills it.
“As for the lyrics, they point at the current trends on earth of more division, more anger, and more fear. I’m simply saying we should be careful of the amount of negativity we populate our lives with, because we just might make it come true.
“If we bring on dystopia then we better be prepared for the ride”.
Thayer, 65, added: “I’ve always loved doing projects like this because they give me a chance to step outside of my usual world and just create, play guitar and have fun making music.”
