SOUNDGARDEN will be back next month, with a couple of special guests in tow for an NFL halftime performance.
The Pretty Reckless’ Taylor Momsen and Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready will be part of the legendary Seattle outfit when their local team, the Seahawks, hosts New England at Luman Field on September 10.
Soundgarden previous performed with another female singer, Shaina Shepherd, and she famously jumped into the Hot Metal Facebook comments section to defend herself when criticised by readers.
In all, Soundgarden have played four times since the death of Chris Cornell in 2017: at a tribute to the late singer (when Momsen performed with them), at at Taylor Hawkins tribute show, under the name Nudedragons with Shepherd and at the Rock’n’Roll Hall Of Fame with Momsen involved once more.
In face, the Pretty Reckless were Soundgarden’s support on tour when Cornell committed suicide.
A statement posted on the band’s social media accounts read: “Soundgarden, featuring Taylor Momsen of The Pretty Reckless and Mike McCready of Pearl Jam, will be performing at halftime of the NFL’s season opener in Seattle on Wednesday, September 9th.
“The game is a Super Bowl LX rematch between the champion Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots. GO HAWKS!!”
