SOUNDGARDEN have teamed up with Taylor Momsen to perform at a Seattle Seahawks NFL game.
The band gave fans renditions of “Spoonman” and “Outshined” but their cameo was omitted from TV coverage of the match.
The performance took place during halftime of the Seahawks’ 2026 season opener against the New England Patriots at Lumen Field in Seattle on Wednesday, September 9.
Surviving Soundgarden members Kim Thayil (guitar), Ben Shepherd (bass) and Matt Cameron (drums) were joined by The Pretty Reckless frontwoman Momsen on lead vocals and Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready on additional guitar. The Seahawks’ Blue Thunder drumline also participated.
The two-song set marked Soundgarden’s first public appearance since their Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction in November 2025, when Momsen and McCready had previously appeared as guests.
“Spoonman,” from the 1994 album Superunknown, had not been performed live by the band since their final concert with late frontman Chris Cornell on May 17, 2017. “Outshined” is a track from the 1991 album Badmotorfinger.
McCready also performed a guitar version of the national anthem before kickoff. The Seahawks, the defending Super Bowl champions, defeated the Patriots 13-10 in a rematch of the previous season’s decider.
The halftime performance was not included in NBC’s television broadcast of the game, prompting disappointment among viewers who had anticipated seeing it. Fan-recorded video of the set later circulated online.
