AN appearance at a Newtown gallery by British rock singer of the moment Yungblud has been shut down by police due to overcrowding.

The 28-year-old, who came to the attention of most older rock fans at the Back To The Beginning show last July, is playing Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth over the next few says and offered to attend a photographic exhibition in his honour – Yungblud Idols – at 551 King gallery.

With lines around the block before it kicked off, police were eventually called. While the photographer, Tom Pallant, would have been stoked at the roll-up, Yungblud told his millions of social media followers the experience had been “hectic” and he had called it a day early because of the throng.

He wrote: “Yo guys, I love you so much, thank you for coming out. That got a bit f**kin’ hectic, didn’t it? The cops said we had to move on because it was just getting fucking mad.
“I love you all, and I can’t wait I’ll see you Saturday. Enjoy Tom’s exhibition, go in, look at the photos. They’re really beautiful, he did really well. Love you guys.”

The IDOLS album has peaked at number four in Australia.

A friend of Hot Metal, Janet Sullivan, told us she was not going to line up to get into the gallery, waiting for the crowd to clear – but was fortunate enough to snap a selfie with the Doncaster rocker as he left amid the chaos.

“I was in the right place at the right time,” she said. “About 1.30pm he left so he was only there for about an hour I think.

“It was really hot: I think it was around 32 degrees in the inner west. He didn’t say anything to me – he was talking to a fan then about to jump into his van to leave and I asked to take a quick photo.

“And he just posed – that’s all I can remember.”
