MEMBERS of a classic lineup of King Diamond have formed a new band, Lex Legion.
Andy LaRoque (producer/guitars), Mikkey Dee (drums), Pete Blakk (guitar) and Hal Patino (bass) will release a debut single today and an album in June. Replacing King Diamond himself on vocals is Nils K Rue of the prog metal outfit Pagan’s Mind.
The new act contains four-fifths of the lineup that released the 1988 album Them and its 1989 follow-up, Conspiracy.
Dee, known for his work in Motorhead and Scorpions, said in a media release: “Lex Legion is totally written the way we thought in the ‘80s. We wrote what we wanted, and if you liked it, that was a great bonus. If you didn’t like it, that was fine with us, too!”
The new band is expected to begin touring next year.
