BON Jovi frontman Jon Bon Jovi ended the band’s concert early on Thursday, citing sinus problems and telling Madison Square Garden: “I’m f–king hurting”.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame-inducted band was performing the eighth show of a nine-date residency at the venue. According to a representative, Jon Bon Jovi has been dealing with a sinus infection, which prompted the decision to stop the performance after approximately 90 minutes.
The set included a guest appearance by Train vocalist Pat Monahan, who joined the band for a performance of the 1986 hit “Livin’ On a Prayer.”
Speaking to the audience from the stage, Jon Bon Jovi said: ““I know I’m letting you down and it’s not like me to do that.
“We’re gonna do one more song, and I’m gonna need you’re help. We might have to cool it because I’m fucking hurting.
”Don’t throw away your ticket stubs. I’m going to figure something out, okay? Don’t fear. Just hang onto it, I’m going to figure out how to reschedule.
“I’m gonna have to cool it for a night. I feel great, I’ll see you again soon, bye bye.”
A spokesperson for the band told People magazine: “Jon Bon Jovi spoke from stage and told fans he has been battling a sinus infection which led to the show’s early ending. As part of the Bon Jovi residency at Madison Square Garden, Jon has said numerous times that it has been a joy to return to live shows for the band. Updated information will be available shortly.”
The performances are part of the band’s Forever Tour, presented by Live Nation. The tour marks Bon Jovi’s return to the stage following Jon Bon Jovi’s reconstructive vocal cord surgery and subsequent rehabilitation period.
The singer has previously spoken openly about his recovery process, noting that the band rehearsed monthly to assess his progress. He stated in a 2024 interview with Entertainment Tonight that he would not perform until he could complete a full two-and-a-half-hour show.
Bon Jovi’s Madison Square Garden residency is scheduled to conclude on Sunday, July 26. The band is then set to perform five stadium shows in Scotland, the Republic of Ireland and England, concluding with three dates at London’s Wembley Stadium, the final one on September 9.
