FORMER Whitesnake guitarist Joel Hoekstra has found a new gig – as a member of Stephen Pearcy’s self-styled “Ratt pack”.
Pearcy is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Dancing Undercover album – one of HM’s favourites – and will be touring North America in the coming months leaning heavily on that material.
Hoekstra joins a line-up that features Slaughter’s Blas Elias on drums, Rough Cutt’s Matt Thorne on bass and Erik Ferentinos on guitars. This is distinct from a parallel band that includes Ratt’s Warren DeMartini on guitar.
Hoekstra is certainly one of the hardest working musicians in the scene, a current member of Trans-Siberian Orchestra who recently performed with his acoustic foil Brandon Gibbs on the Monsters Of Rock Cruise.
Pearcy commented via his website: “Renowned guitarist Joel Hoekstra, who has collaborated with esteemed artists Foreigner, Whitesnake and the Trans Siberian Orchestra. His virtuosic guitar playing has garnered widespread recognition on stages with Cher, Night Ranger and Broadways ‘Rock of Ages’.”
The tour starts on May 9 at Tulere, California.
