BRADY Ebert, the former Turnstile guitarist who allegedly hit the father of the band’s singer with a car, is now facing life imprisonment.
Ebert, 33, was initially charged with second degree attempted murder over the alleged incident which occurred on March 29 in Silver Spring, Maryland.
This has now been upgraded to attempted first degree murder which carries a life sentence. The previous charge carried a maximun 30-year sentence.
The Baltimore Banner reports Ebert is also facing charges of attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault and two counts of second-degree assault.
He is quoted as telling police that CC TV footage would exonerate him, adding: “This is pure self-defence. They’re the attackers.”
Ebert is being held in Montgomery Correctional Facility and will face court on May 8.
The alleged victim is 79-year-old William Yates, father of the hardcore band’s singer Brendan. A local report said Yates “was hurt so badly a bone stuck out his leg” – a description of a compound facture.
Brady Ebert split with Turnstile in 2022 after playing on their first three album, the band citing “a consistent pattern of harmful behavior affecting himself, the band, and the community.”
