FAITH No More have made a series of social media posts strongly suggesting a 2027 reunion.
The pioneering funk rockers posted a graphic with the inscription “2027” across their channels in Tuesday, sparking a frenzy among fans. They last performed together on August 20, 2016.
The “2027” was superimposed over the image of a live crowd and at the same time Pollstar reported the band had inked a deal with Brazilian company 30e for all future touring.
They wouldn’t do that if there was no future touring, right?
The company’s CEO, Pepeu Correa, was quoted as saying: “Faith No More has always been synonymous with disruption. They shaped entire generations precisely because they refused to play by the market’s obvious rules.
“And it is that same audacious spirit that drives 30e. This agreement aims to jointly build a platform for global experiences that respects the band’s transgressive DNA and presents our vision of entertainment to the world.”
The band did book dates in 2020 but that was scuppered by COVID and then vocalist Mike Patton withdraw from the postponed tour completely, citing mental health.
Of course, 1989’s The Real Thing was a massive record, commercially, critically and in terms of influence – particularly in Australia. In fact, in Oz at least it could be argued FNM started the alternative rock revolution and the move away from hair metal – not Nirvana.
Faith No More broke up in 1998 and reformed in 2009. Keyboardist Roddy Bottom recently said the band was “in a really weird spot” and the competition for Patton’s time between FNM and Mr Bungle seems as big a point of contention now as it was at the start of the nineties when the members spoke about it candidly in Hot Metal.
Recently, supposedly warring members have been seen in public together, however.
