GUITARIST Scott Kingman has stood down from the Screaming Jets for unspecified health reasons, with Electric Mary’s Pete Robinson announced as his replacement.

Kingman, who first burst into prominence with epic Melbourne hard rockers Horsehead in the 1990s, has been at Jet since 2007. He announced his departure via social media on Monday.

English-born Robinson announced his appointment the following day.

Kingman wrote: “After 20 incredible years with The Screaming Jets, I’ve made the very difficult decision to step away from life on the road due to a health issue that makes continued travel too great a risk.

“There are no words that can truly measure the admiration, gratitude and connection I feel for the band and everyone involved over the years — every member, past and present; the support crews, past and present; and all the fans and beautiful folk who ultimately allowed me to experience this journey. It has been a great privilege, and I thank you all.
“While I’ll no longer be part of the touring Jets, I’ll continue to stay active and creative within the camp and I’m genuinely excited about what’s ahead for me and us now.
“To Dave (Gleeson) and to my late, great soulmate Pauly (Woseen), my love, admiration, and eternal thanks for the door you opened are endless. So, until we next meet, I’ll see you at the bar. Love, sweat and bad behaviour.”
Robinson said: “Firstly I want to wish Scott Kingman all the best with his ongoing health issues one of the nicest guys in the industry.
“… because of this I will be stepping up and filling the very large shoes Scott has left.
“I am very honoured to be given this opportunity and I look forward to being a part of this incredible team and meeting all the Jets community.”
And the band posted: “Scotty will be leaving the band as a result of health issues.
“Scotty wasn’t just a bandmate – he’s a brother to us. His musicianship, energy and presence on and off stage have been a huge part of the band for two decades and we are incredibly grateful for everything he has given to the band and our fans over that time
“While we will deeply miss him, we fully support his decision and understand his need to put his health first. Scotty will always be part of the Jets family.
“The Jets will continue all touring activity as planned through 2026 and beyond, with our good friend Pete Robinson (Electric Mary) stepping in on guitar.
“We are also hoping Scotty will be able to join us on stage later in the year in his home state of Victoria for a few songs and a proper send off.”
