IN A major line-up change for one of Australia’s most storied  and influential bands, singer Dave Gleeson has left The Angels.

The vocalist and the band simultaneously announced the news this evening, Gleeson to concentrate on The Screaming Jets and radio commitments with Triple M.

He will play six more shows with the band before being replaced by the current Angels drummer, Nick Norton.

The new skinsman will be Tom Brewster, son of guitarist John, meaning the entire new line-up bar Norton is part of the Brewster family.

“It’s been an honour and a pleasure to be part of The Angels’ continuing legacy,” Gleeson said in a statement.

“Now the time has come to part ways, as The Angels prepare to celebrate 50 years and The Screaming Jets to release our first studio album in six years.
“…which, along with my Triple M radio show will keep my dance card full!”
John Brewster commented: “We remain the very best of friends, and Dave will always be a much-loved part of The Angels family.”
Rick Brewster added: “We are so grateful to Dave for everything he’s done for the band.
“He’s been our front man for 12 years, sharing hundreds of great gigs and good times. And now, with his increased commitments, we totally understand his need to move on.”
Gleeson joined The Angels in 2011. His final show will be at the Gympie Music Muster in late August. The exact date of The Angels’ performance has not been confirmed by the festival.
