A YEAR after Black Sabbath played their last show, Tony Iommi releases the first track from his new album.

Preceded by a very special live YouTube broadcast from Birmingham early this morning, “World Alone” is available now.

Featuring the vocal talents of Norway’s Jorn Lande and the rhythm section of Becky Baldwin and Karl Brazil, the track is the first taste of the album From the Dark, released on October 23.

The single release coincided with details of the album – Iommi’s first since 2005 – being made public. Iommo’s most recent full-length studio album was Black Sabbath’s 13 in 2013.

The guitarist was quoted in a media release as saying: “It’s an album we’ve really enjoyed making. We’re not trying to prove anything – it’s a great album, it rocks!”

Iommi and longtime collaborator Mike Exeter co-produced the new album.
Track listing:

  1. “Over the Violent Sun”
  2. “Times”
  3. “World Alone”
  4. “Beyond the Dead”
  5. “Stormwatcher”
  6. “Death Wake”
  7. “Return of the Arbalist”
  8. “Legacy”

Bonus tracks:
9. “Scent of Dark” (previously released instrumental)
10. “Deified” (previously released instrumental)
