STRYPER frontman Michael Sweet has claimed Brisbane has the world’s best coffee.

Performing last night (May 2) at Woolloongabba’s Princes Theatre, 59-year-old Sweet said members of the venerable Christian metal band were caffeine fiends on tour and sampled the drink wherever they travelled.

“We drink a lot of coffee,” he told the audience.

“And we’ve travelled all over the world: Spain, Italy, Seattle with the coffee.

“I hope people (not here) don’t hear this but I think Brisbane might be the best!

“We’ve gone for lots of coffees and it’s been great everywhere we’ve gone.”

Sweet also asked the crowd to explain Aussie slang terms such as snag (for sausages) and admitted he didn’t know why people would wait until a band was “old” to see them for the first time.

The tour continues tonight in Sydney. Full tour details HERE. A guide to Brisbane’s coffee hotspots is located HERE.
