THE estate of the late Bon Scott has made its biggest commercial move by announcing a series of merchandising and live event commemorations of the late AC/DC singer’s 80th birthday.
Scott, who died in London in 1980, would have turned 80 on July 9. His estate has now partnered with merchandisers Perryscope Productions and items such as posters, coins, statues and t-shirts.
The artwork for the posters and t-shirts will come via Reg Mombassa of Mental As Anything.
In the events space, there is a birthday party in New York, Bonfest in Kirriemuir and a screening of the Let There Be Rock concert film at the Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall Of Fame.
Intriguingly, German studio technology company Neumann will also release something described in the media release merely as “a product” – to be released on July 9.
There will also be a Bon Scott YouTube channel, with interviews conducted with other musicians and archival footage sourced from the ABC.
