AC/DC appear to be powering up for a return to the stage – at a festival in the California desert called Powertrip this October.
Ackadacka have joined Metallica, Iron Maiden, Tool and Ozzy Osbourne in teasing the Festival’s promotional inventory. The line-up will allegedly be revealed tomorrow (Thursday), US time.
The venue is Indio, California, where trendy Coachella is held each year. Promoters GoldenVoice described the format as “legendary rock heavy performers from the 1970s and 1980s”.
AC/DC have not played live since September 20, 2016. There have been no shows in support of their current album, Power Up.
Singer Brian Johnson has not played live with the band since February 28, 2016. At that point, he left due to hearing difficulties, dates were postponed and Axl Rose stepped into vox duties.
The inaugural Powertrip Festival was also that year, featuring The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and Paul McCartney.
This year’s festival is pencilled in for October 6-8.
Coincidentally, Ackadacka ended a six year hiatus by playing the same venue – at the Coachella Festival – in 2015.
