OFFSPRING guitarist Noodles has announced he is stepping away from live performances due to a “fairly serious health issue”, prompting concern in the rock and punk communities.
Real name Kevin Wasserman, Noodles said in a statement: “It is with deep sadness that I have to announce that I need to step away from live performances for a while to deal with a sudden and fairly serious health issue.
The 63-year-old added:“The rest of the band has my back, is super supportive and will keep rocking you all in my absence.
“I hope to be back on stage sooner rather than later. Until then, I will miss all of you with all of my heart.
“Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts. I really appreciate it,” Noodles conclued
Noodles’ most recent appearance with The Offspring was on October 18 at Mission Bayfest in San Diego. The band is scheduled to perform on October 24 at The Wiltern in Los Angeles without him.
Further shows remain on the calendar for November 6 at SEMA Fest in Las Vegas and November 21 at Corona Capital in Mexico City.
Noodles did not disclose details of the health issue or how long the absence from touring is expected to last.
