OZZY Osbourne’s spectacular send-off charity event, with the original line-up of Black Sabbath and one of the greatest heavy metal casts ever assembled, has sold out 15 minutes after general ticket sales went online.

After being preceded by three pre-sale dates beginning on 11 February, the general sales began with most of the tickets probably already sold, and online waiting lists of more than 500,000. With the cheapest tickets available going for around $AU250, we weren’t even going to be in the running for this, but we logged on within minutes anyway, to find 314,000 people ahead of us in the queue. Not much chance of grabbing a seat, then.

Back to the Beginning will be held on 5 July at Villa Park in Birmingham, will all profits going to assist childrens’ hospitals and Parkinson’s disease research.

The full line-up for the event is: Black Sabbath, Metallica, Ozzy, Slayer, Pantera, Gojira, Halestorm, Alice in Chains, Lamb of God, Anthrax and Mastodon, with appearances by Billy Corgan, Slash, David Draiman, Fred Durst, Jake E Lee, Jonathan Davies, KK Downing, Mike Bordin, Papa V Perpetua, Rudy Sarzo, Sammy Hagar, Wolfgang Van Halen, Tom Morello and Sleep Token II.
