SWITZERLAND’S Hellhammer forged a new direction and style for metal when they emerged in the underground in the early 1980s with a series of primeval demos and 1984’s Apocalyptic Raids EP.
Eventually becoming Celtic Frost, Hellhammer never played live, their songs only airing occasionally in Tom Gabriel Warrior’s later musical projects. Warrior has been performing his seminal act’s songs with Triumph of Death – named for Hellhammer’s second demo – since 2020 and in August he will bring this collective together for a celebration of one of extreme metal’s founding artists.
