NO, this is not the Betoota Advocate.
Stubhub really did list an event at the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium in South Carolina last week – Behold The Lamb Of God: The True Tall Tale Of The Coming Of Christ– as just plain old Lamb Of God.
And fans of the Richmond, Virginia metallers of that name really did show up.
Andrew Peterson’s play about the birth of Christ has nothing to do with the band, of course. For a start, no-one in the play is remotely Randy.
Stubhub eventually apologised: “We acknowledge the listing for the December 20 event at Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium was misleading and apologise for the confusion this caused…
“Anyone who purchased tickets under the impression this was a different performance is encouraged to contact us — we’ll honour a full refund”.
Lamb Of God frontman Randy Blythe blew up on Instagram, saying: “We usually play @groundzerovenue NOT Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium. This why StubHub sucks. Merry Christmas, Spartanburg”.
I mean, it was bound to happen – and in fact has happened at least once before. But it’s too perfect an internet yarn to fully believe…
Of course Lamb Of God were monstrous at the Back To The Beginning show and Randy has a book out that is apparently incredible.
