AUSSIE label Golden Robot says unreleased John Sykes material will finally see the light of day this year.

The legendary former Thin Lizzy and Whitesnake guitarist died in December 2024. His short time on Golden Robot did not yield and releases. Sykes. 65 when he died, is known to have had a large amount of material ‘in the can’ which no-one has been able to bring to the public.

But in a release spuiking the year ahead, Golden Robot said: “At the heart of the 2026 line-up is a deeply special and historic release: an unreleased EP from the late John Sykes, arriving posthumously and offering fans a powerful final chapter from one of rock’s most revered guitarists.

“This release alone marks 2026 as a monumental year for rock history…”

The mechanism under which Golden Robot can release material from an artist it previously split with, and has since died, was not immediately clear.

Before his death, Sykes – who was also a member of Blue Murder and Tygers Of Pan Tang – did put out three singles from what was to be an LP called Sy-Ops. But the full album never surfaced.

Golden Robot also announced it had signed Nick Barker and the Reptiles.
