FORMER WASP guitarist Chris Holmes has cancelled a string of UK and Scandinavian tour dates due to “health issues that require immediate attention”.
Holmes, 67, has previously undergone chemotherapy for throat and neck cancer but returned to touring and was a performer on last year’s Monsters Of Rock Cruise out of Miami.
After a venue in Gothenburg announced the cancellation of Holmes’ date there, the guitarist’s wife Catherine issued a statement that read:“Out of respect for our fans and promoters, we feel compelled to explain why we are obliged to cancel our UK and Scandinavia tour scheduled for May.
“All shows taking place after July remain unaffected.
Due to health issues that require immediate attention, we must unfortunately cancel the May tour. We will keep you updated as soon as we have more information.
“We would like to thank each and every one of you for your understanding, and we ask that you please accept our apologies.”
Holmes was recently part of an announcement for a new supergroup called T3rminal, comprising Brian Wheat, Tommy Skeoch (both Tesla) and Josey Scott (Saliva). The initial announcement said a debut album would be out this year.
