OZ guitar hero and ARIA Hall of Famer Bob Spencer has joined Spy Vs Spy!
Spencer, who for HM readers is probably best known for his time in The Angels and Rose Tattoo but who has also graced the likes of Finch, Skyhooks and Temple Gods and Black Cat Bone, is part of Craig Bloxom’s line-up celebrating the 40th anniversary of their albums Harry’s Reasons and AO Mod TV Vers.
“First up, Craig is a good egg,” Spencer wrote on Facebook, with minor edits for syntax and punctuation. “This is very important. I am far too old to commit to time and energy playing tours with fuckwits!
“Next is that I like the band! Also very important. As to the nuts and bolts of playing that thar banjo with them:
“I’ve joined a few established bands over my several hundred years in “The Biz”. Each band requires a different mind-set, but each one has asked me to bring what I do to the table, to just be me, and to not necessarily copy what has come before me (for example I don’t recall ever actually playing a Red Symons solo, nor was I every asked to).
“The videos thus far posted of our rather messy first gig give a fairly good representation of what you might expect. And things will only get more refined, clearer and better over time and with some gigs under our belts.”
The line-up is rounded out on Justin Ngariki – also a former Tatt – on drums and Paul Green in guitar. The tour starts on October 9.
