JOURNEY’s Neal Schon has made a cryptic reference to the ‘Mob’ in discussing the band’s problems with management and legal counsel in recent years.
In an interview with Hot Metal’s White Line Fever series on YouTube, the multi-platinum guitarist and songwriter discusses why AOR’s biggest band parted company with staff, advisors and band members over the Pandemic period.
“It’s through a lot of years of discovery and having many attorneys lie to me, who were trademark attorneys that I hired,” Schon said.
“…and not giving me straight answers.
“You know what? I ended up going straight to Google. We both (band-mate Jonathan Cain) did. We went to Google because you couldn’t trust anybody, that they were going to give you the right answer.
“Because they’re all mob.”
Asked to clarify his apparent reference to organised crime, Schon says: “It’s everywhere, man. Anywhere where there’s a lot of money. Different types of them.”
Our interview previously made headlines when Schon discussed his relationship with Cain, with whom he has major political differences.
“I do nothing but write music with Jon,” Schon said. “That’s it.”
