FLORIDA death metal pioneers Deicide are touring Australia for the first time since 2006.
It’s been announced the influential outfit will be playing on consecutive days from January 30 and 31 and then a break before the tour resumes of February 3. The cities are Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra and Sydney.
A media release from the promoters described Deicide as “the second-best-selling death metal band of the SoundScan era”. Their most recent album, their 12th, was Banished By Sin in 2024.
The current lineup is: Glen Benton (vocals/bass), Steve Asheim (drums), Taylor Nordberg (guitar) and Jadran Gonzalez (guitar).
The Australian run opens at Adelaide’s Froth and Fury Festival on January 30, 2027 before a headline date at Melbourne’s Northcote Theatre the following night. Further shows follow at The Brightside in Brisbane on February. 3, The Baso in Canberra on February 4 and Manning Bar in Sydney on February 5.
Tickets go on sale from October 13 through yourmatebookings.com. The dates are presented by Your Mate Bookings in association with Froth and Fury Festival.
Formed in Tampa in 1987, the group issued its self-titled debut album in 1990. The follow-up, Legion, appeared two years later and remains widely regarded as a cornerstone of the death metal genre.
The band’s early recordings were made at Morrisound Studios in Florida and helped establish the aggressive, high-speed style associated with the Tampa scene of the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Over the ensuing decades Deicide has maintained a consistent presence on the international extreme metal circuit, regularly appearing at major European and North American festivals.
Support acts for the individual headline shows have yet to be confirmed.
