GERMAN power metallers Primal Fear are headed our way next May, celebrating their 30th anniversary.
The band will play headline shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne over three successive nights, marking three decades since vocalist Ralf Scheepers and bassist Mat Sinner founded the group in 1997.
The run opens at Crowbar in Brisbane on Thursday, May 6, continues at Crowbar in Sydney on Friday, May 7, and concludes at the Croxton Bandroom in Melbourne on Saturday, May 8.
The dates come shortly after the release of the band’s forthcoming album Shadowriders, giving Australian audiences an early chance to hear new material performed live. Those tracks will sit alongside a selection of songs drawn from across Primal Fear’s catalogue of 15 studio albums.
Scheepers previously fronted Gamma Ray and was once considered a possible successor to Rob Halford in Judas Priest. He and Sinner formed Primal Fear in October 1997; the self-titled debut album arrived in February 1998 and reached number 48 on the German charts.
The current line-up also includes guitarists Magnus Karlsson and Thalìa Bellazecca, with André Hilgers on drums.
General tickets are on sale from today.
