WITH 36 hours left to go in the campaign, Alice Springs music hub The Black Wreath has been saved.

The collective’s ambitious Pozible drive to raise one million dollars in a month to buy the property they have turned into an Alice Springs institution succeeded when the target was hit just after noon Eastern time today.

One point one million dollars have been pledged so far and with the campaign continuing until midnight tomorrow, supporters can continue to donate to the cause.

Since it was established by local metal musician Pirate in 2011, the Black Wreath has grown from a label and promotion team supporting Central Australian artists to a community hub hosting gigs, workshops and recording facilities and serves as the promoter and organiser of Blacken Open Air, the Territory’s three-day rock and metal festival that will be held for the 10th time in late April 2027.

When the owners of the property announced in 2025 they would be selling the building, The Black Wreath went into survival mode, turning to Pozible and the Australian public to raise the funds to buy the venue and put it in trust for perpetuity.

That goal has now been achieved. The Blacken Forever events booked around the country for Saturday night will now serve as a nationwide celebration.

Those who still want to donate to the campaign can do so here.
