CANADIAN rockers Crystal Pistol, whose 2006 paean to excess “Rock Star” was objectively one of the greatest songs released this century, are making a surprise comeback.
The Canucks’ failure to garner airplay became a cause celebre for many who felt the music industry had become moribund and cynical and radio dumbed down and trend-obsessed. They broke up after just one album but have occasionally reunited for one-off shows.
Now the Mik Ireland-fronted five-piece has announced on social media: “Recording new Crystal Pistol material. #You Can’t Kill Rock n Roll!”, accompanied by black and white shots of the now somewhat greying musicians in the studio.
It’s their first Facebook post in more than a year – the last was about one of those reunion shows.
We can’t wait to hear what they’re conjuring up.
