IT’S an exciting announcement for collectors and a desperately sad one for Van Halen fans.
Any hope of a tribute tour in honour of the late Edward Van Halen appears gone with the news his brother, drummer Alex, is auctioning off his collection of drums, touring paraphernalia, gold and platinum records.
The auction will be hosted by Backstage Auctions between June 1 and 9.
“The collection features over 350 lots, with a wide array of memorabilia, such as drum kits, snare drums, kick drums, road cases, drumheads, cymbals, gongs, sticks & mallets, personal items, record awards, autographed pieces, and so much more,” the auction house said in a statement.
“Each lot sold will come with a personally signed COA from Alex, which is a collectible in itself.”
Alex was quoted as saying: “”I always have pursued the best possible sound, which drove me every single day, every single album, and every single tour to be on top of my game. I hope that passing on all these pieces will inspire current and next generations to be the best they can be. Now, let’s have some fun.”
