GENE Simmons has played his second post-KISS solo show, dropping covers into his set without digging too deeply into the legendary band’s catalogue.
Simmons new life with his new band (Brent Woods, Zack Throne and Brian Tichy) began last week in Washington when they played at the opening of Rock And Brews restaurant, part of the chain he co-owns with Paul Stanley.
Now the Gene Simmons Band is on the road, having played the Summer Breeze Festival in Sao Paulo, Brazil. For all the talk about deep cuts and giving fans rarely-heard gems, Simmons opened with “Deuce” and closed with “Rock’N’Roll All Nite”.
In between there was Led Zeppelin’s Communication Breakdown and Motorhead’s Ace Of Spade along with a Simmons solo number, “Are You Ready?”
Songs he included which did not feature in the final KISS concert at Madison Square Garden on December 2 were: “Parasite” and “Let Me Go, Rock’n’Roll”.
