ANGRY Anderson says Rose Tattoo’s last-ever show will be this New Years Eve at a venue to be determined.

The Tatts are currently doung farewell shows in their 50th year and preparing for a final album with the majority of songs written by slide player Mick Arnold. In an interview with Rock Daydream Nation, Anderson – real name Gary – put a date on the final time the storied Aussie rockers will tread the boards.

Referring to last New Years Eve, he said: “I just thought, well, [in] a year, I’ll be sitting there possibly…’ Well, I’ll be with the band, ’cause we’ll play on the New Year’s Eve into the New Year’s morning of the first morning of ’27, because that’s how the band started.

“We took our first gig from the New Year’s Eve gig at the Chequers nightclub here in Sydney. And I thought, I’ll wake up to a new year and I’ll be bandless.”

Anderson previously told 3AW: “We will be 50 years old in ’26 on New Year’s Eve. I am proud to say – because I have survived all the original members, and a few along the way – we have achieved what we set out to achieve. At the end of the day if you can say that you are a lucky man.

“We’re working on a new set of songs because we want to mark our 50th anniversary bow-out with an album. But I think we’re still going to keep writing and recording even after that, because this particular lineup is on fire.”

Back in the YouTube interview, Anderson said of Arnold: “He’s very prolific musically and he comes up with the sort of music that appeals to me. It’s very bluesy.

“It’s quite modern technique, but it’s very bluesy. It’s very chordy, some beautiful, beautiful nuances and some beautiful riffs and chord progressions, et cetera. So quite happy and very excited about that. As far as we know, it’ll be our last album.”

The current lineup of the Tatts is rounded out by drummer Paul DeMarco, bassist Steve King and guitarist Ronnie Simmons.
