KISS legend Gene Simmons is reportedly recovering at home after being involved in a frightening car crash in Malibu on Tuesday, October 7. The 76-year-old rock icon was briefly hospitalised following the incident.

According to reports from NBC4 Los Angeles, Simmons told responding deputies that he may have fainted or passed out while driving his SUV along the Pacific Coast Highway.

His vehicle then collided with a parked car. A spokesperson for the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station confirmed that an accident matching this description occurred just before 1 pm., with the driver being transported to a local hospital for treatment.

A representative for the iconic bassist has since confirmed Simmons is doing well. “Gene is fine and back to work already,” the rep told People magazine.

The musician’s wife, Shannon, also spoke to media, noting that Simmons is now recovering at home. She mentioned that doctors had recently made a change to his medication, though it’s not confirmed if this was a contributing factor. Sources stated his SUV reportedly veered across multiple lanes before the impact.

This incident comes just a month before KISS is scheduled to reunite for a special event in Las Vegas. The “KISS Army Storms Vegas” event in November is set to celebrate the band’s monumental 50th anniversary, marking their first major appearance since concluding their farewell tour in late 2023.

Fans will recall a health scare last year when Simmons paused a concert due to dehydration. He later reassured everyone on social media that he recovered quickly after drinking some water and was able to finish the show.

Interestingly enough, it was only a few weeks ago that KISS guitar champion Ace Frehley was also hospitalised, albeit after a studio incident. You can read more about that here.

Frehley has since cancelled all remaining 2025 dates.
