GUITARIST Phil X says Bon Jovi are rehearsing “deep cuts” for upcoming shows at Madison Square Garden, the UK and Ireland.
After singer Jon Bon Jovi’s much-discussed vocal issues, the eighties icons are heading to a nine-night residency at America’s most famous arena, followed by a short five-gig stadium run in Glasgow, Dublin and London.
“Jon’s throwing some deep cuts into rehearsals for Bon Jovi,” the 59-year-old axeman told Sirius XM.
Asked by host Eddie Trunk to be more specific on which songs would be include in the Bon Jovi set, X replied: “No, man. Then it’s not a surprise. I’m not saying anything.”
On the Trunk Nation show, the Bon Jovi guitarist was also asked how Jon Bon Jovi was sounding at the rehearsals.
“Yeah, it’s been great,” X answered. “I can literally honestly say that, you know, it’s just getting better and better. Like we get together every month for a few days, and I’m really excited.”
Bon Jovi make their return on July 7 in New York. The MSG shows run until July 29 and there is a month-long break before the mini-tour resumes at Murrayfield in Edinburgh.
The band plays three nights at Wembley Stadium, September 4, 6 and 9.
JBJ launched the Wembley shows on the same day as the Australian rugby league team trained at the venue last year, and posed for photos with the Kangaroos.
